- Additional Design Options With BODY PARTS Kits & LifeCast Materials:
|
- These methods require some additional skill and experience but are not difficult. For more detailed explanations and many additional ideas refer to the LifeCast Library.
The Successful Creativity Guarantee does not cover any of the variations on this page.

Economical Hand Prints:
These use very little material. The matrix should be shallow, flat bottomed and narrower at the bottom than the top. Most food containers are this shape.
- , To minimize mold bubbles coat the palm with liquid ArtForm before dipping.
- , Several hands may be done at once in a large matrix. As long as the hands don't touch, their Lifecasts will come apart when hardened.
|
Ears, Noses, Lips and Smiles:
Art is fun! Small parts like these are good for embedding with refrigerator magnets or as unique decorations to many different items.
NOTE: Be sure not to pour the fluid into the ear but to dunk the ear into the fluid.
|
Edible LifeCast Treats:
Chocolate poured into the ArtForm will make fun, edible BODY PARTS! Noses, ears or mouths for cake decoration or playfully, gruesome Halloween, finger treats are made by following these steps:
- 1) Use a toilet paper tube to make a little finger mold.
- 2) Put mold in freezer while melting chocolate.
- 3) Pour in the chocolate, embed a candy stick and return to the freezer. When cool (10 min.) remove & enjoy!
|
Bases & Mixed Media Lifecasting:
Pedestal Bases are made by allowing about 1 to 2 inches of the matrix to remain empty when measuring water for the ArtForm. This is then filled with the ArtCast.
- Holding Objects are captured in a LifeCast (i.e.; balls, picture frames, crystals, etc.) by holding them as you enter the liquid ArtForm and let it set.
- , The hand(s) is removed but, the object stays in the mold. Cement will fill the fingers around it and perfectly fit the object.
- NOTE: Objects must be waterproof or tightly covered in plastic wrap. They are permanently trapped.
|
Hand Separator For Bookends:
- Similar to praying hands except that, for bookends, the LifeCast hands should come apart in a flat, upright position when the cement sets.
- , For this design variation, cut a stiff piece of plastic or paperboard (wrap this in plastic film) to the shape of the inside of the cup.
|
H and Separator to Make Bookends:
, It is held between the hands as shown to the left while the ArtFORM sets. When the ArtCAST is poured, the wedge keeps the two hands from sticking together.
, Be sure to make the cast bases thick and heavy enough to support books. Or you can mount the finished LifeCasts to some other type of base like marble, wood, etc.
|
Vases, Lamps & Other Functional Designs:
Lifecasts which require hollowed out areas are easiest to do by embedding plastic bottles into the cement while it is still liquid. Hold it in position until the cement can grip it.
Embeds: Magnets, brackets for vertical wall mounting, etc. should be done while the cement is still liquid. Mounting bolts like the one in the illustration should be lightly coated with lubricant before embedding so they can be gently unscrewed.
|
Through The Side:
Horizontal Designs are done through the side of a matrix as shown in the two following illustrations.
Feet are usually wider at the heel t han the ankle. Cut the mold behind the heel to remove the foot.
- , Realign the split before pouring the cast. There will be a little touch-up. Refer to the Library for more information.
