LifeCast™ Kit Examples:

These are my favorite types of projects with children – hand bouquets! This was done with 8 of them all in a small trash can simultaneously, standing around it in a circle, giggling so much I didn't think it would turn out good at all. The mediums constantly surprise me at how forgiving they can be.
Cust life cast boqtBefore doing it I punched a small hole in the bottom of the matrix then re-covered it with tape. After casting, opening the hole allowed air in to release the suction so the mold could slide out. These kids were indeed all the colors of the human rainbow and I painted them as such with acrylics finished off with some clear coat.
LifeCasts™ with a romantic flavor like this one are popular commission subjects. For weddings, anniversaries and so on what could be more symbolic than the lovers' intertwined hands - literally cast in stone? And how they grow in personal value with the duration of the relationship. It is especially important when LifeCasting™ hands with long fingernails that you thicken them with clay before making the mold (see Alternative & Advanced Techniques).

Hello Mark,Here is a picture to show you what we are doing. These are our large lizards (16" long). It took both of us 29 hours each to complete one sculpture. Aren't they great!! We think so.In our (jewelry) store we also have made a couple of transparent, resin hands for display. We use them for holding bead strands. They look great with our warm glass jewelry pieces.

This little piece has in interesting story to it. It was done with the FastMask™ technique as described in the Earthium™ instructions because the model was in a real rush and just wanted something quick (these only take a few moments). You see, she was on her way to a plastic surgeon that afternoon to have her nose reshaped (I saw nothing wrong with it myself). Anyway, she was nervous and wanted to have the doctor show her what he had in mind right on the LifeMask™!The good doctor didn't like that at all from what I heard but, the woman went ahead with the operation. She returned to my shop several weeks later and had me do another of her 'new' face.
Cust life cast face 4Time passed and I thought no more about it. However, several months later I saw here again at a local restaurant. She had returned to the surgeon to have her old nose reconstructed based on the original LifeMask™!So, does art mimic life or does life mimic art? Many LifeCasts™ have stories like this to them. Those tales are part of the artifact. Please include them with any contributions you choose to make to this page.
